詹姆斯繼續說，珍妮（Janet）、拉托婭（LaToya）和母親凱瑟琳（Katherine）都趕到屋下，擔心不已。但只有邁克爾保持了鎮靜。
“他是唯一沒有驚慌失措的人！”詹姆斯說，“他看上去很熟悉我的痛苦……他知道我需要一個人陪著聊聊，於是他就擔當起傾聽者的角色。於是我們聊了整整一個晚上……我都忘記了我甚至還在屋頂準備跳樓自殺。”
詹姆斯·迪巴吉和珍妮於1984年短暫結合。一年後離婚。

*James, Bunny and Randy DeBarge of the family singing group DeBarge were on Dr. Drew’s “Lifechangers” today to discuss their addictions in a two part intervention special.
During the discussion, James DeBarge – who was married for a split second to Michael Jackson’s sister Janet, opened up about a time when Michael saved him from committing suicide.
“One time I was on the roof of [Michael’s] house…I was going to jump and everyone was losing it,” said James.
Dr. Drew asked, “How did he stop you?”
James answered: “He was the only one NOT freaking out! He seemed to be familiar with my pain…he knew I needed someone to talk to so he was that ear. So we just talked all night and I forgot that I was even on the roof and that I was going to jump.”
